Cameras on smartwatches

Started researching smartwatches and none of the popular brand name ones have cameras. Then I see a bunch of off-brand Chinese smartwatches that come with cameras, sometimes 2. Kind of surprised me since would be interesting for stuff like video calls. Any reason why the bigger brands don't have cameras?

While some of the early Samsung's had cameras, they stopped including them years ago. I suspect it is the quality or perhaps people don't like the idea of a camera on a wearable taking pictures without others knowing.
I'm sure once Apple adds a camera to its smartwatch, everyone else will follow.

Not sure I see the use of a camera in a smartwatch. If I need to take a photo or make a video, will just use my phone.

Really I think the main driver is if you are using your smartwatch to replace your phone. Cameras make sense in this case. If it complements your phone, not so much.

I am leaning towards the Galaxy Watch 3 even though it doesn't have a camera. Video calls sound interesting but I doubt I will be doing many of those. Hopefully I am not going to regret getting a smartwatch without a camera.

None of the smartwatches I have looked at have had a camera. Seems like an interesting feature to include but perhaps there is no market for it.

I use the camera on my Prime 2 more than I thought I would. Occasional video call or if I need to take a quick picture of something, it works well.

I don't have a smartwatch yet, LOKMAT APPLLP MAX makes me want it for its size, dual camera, full android (perfect for Waze, TikTok...).
Do you think there will be an ultra wide camera (front) in the future?

I am deaf, it would be cool to be able to communicate otherwise this model can be detached and held from afar like a phone (its advantage).

If I have a smartwatch with a front camera then yes I will use it every day.

The cameras on the Full Android watches, like the LOKMAT APPLLP Max are not the best quality and often times exaggerate the specifications. I have not heard of any upcoming smartwatches with an ultrawide cameras. These are typically found on premium smartphones and might be a while before they show up on smartwatches.

The LOKMAT APPLLP is a unique smartwatch and if you comfortable with the size and some of the drawbacks, might be a reasonable choice for you.
