I bought the LEM 14 smart watch and found out I won't be able to run it as a connected device to share my cell phone number.

Verizon: Just told me they won't support it and didn't even try to add it.
T-Mobile: Tried a nano SIM but the watch didn't seem to recognize it was installed even after a reboot.
AT&T: (Not tried yet)
Google-Fi: (Not tried yet.)
Boost Mobile: (Not tried yet.)
Other Online reseller-carriers: ( Tello, Mint Mobile, Reach Mobile, Ting, USMobile, SpeedTalk Mobile, Good2Go Mobile, H2O Wireless, etc.)

Is there a trick to get it to recognize the SIM card?

AT&T or T-Mobile should be compatible (GSM networks). Verizon will not work.
Those other carriers, are just reselling from larger carriers. Tello, Mint Mobile, Boost and Speedtalk Mobile all use T-Mobile. Good2Go Mobile and H2O Wireless uses AT&T. Reach Mobile uses Verizon.

Confirm that your mobile plan supports data and not just calling/texting.
Also make sure that data is enabled on the watch? When you swipe down on the watch you will need to ensure the double arrow icon is enabled (should show blue).
Last thing to check is if the SIM card was properly installed.

What about 3rd party carriers that resell t-mobile or at&t? They seem to have more affordable + better suited plans to use on my watch.

Not sure what is the cheapest plan but many people are happy with Speed Talk Mobile. They have a smartwatch plan, $5 a month, that gives 250 units which can be used for minutes/sms/mb of data.

Sold on Amazon as well.

I ordered the SpeedTalk Mobile card to try out the $5/Mo. Service. Does anyone know why the data has to be switched on to recognize a sim card? That leads into my other question of whether you could run just a talk and text only plan on these smart watches?
Comments going back 3 years on SpeedTalk look kind of iffy... We'll see how it goes, Hopefully they have improved.

Looking at the specs for the LEM14 it doesn't even appear to support GSM.
Does anyone know where I can see which carrier's bands are supported on it in the U.S.?
Here are the protocols it supports:
CSD
GPRS
UMTS(W-CDMA)
HSUPA(CAT.6)
HSUPA(CAT.7)
HSDPA
HSPA+(CAT.18)
DC-HSDPA(CAT.24)
CDMA2000 1xRTT (IS-2000)
CDMA2000 1xEV-DO Rel.0
CDMA2000 1xEV-DO Rev.A
LTE 100/50(CAT.3)
LTE 150/50(CAT.4)
LTE 300/75(CAT.5)
LTE 300/50(CAT.6)
LTE 300/100(CAT.7)
LTE 400/150(CAT.13)

Why does it have to have data? Are you saying the watch will only work with data?

Are those the bands for the LEMFO LEM14 watch? I pulled the info from the Helio p22 data sheet.
