The realme Watch S Pro is a sports focused smartwatch released in December 2020. This is an upgraded version of the realme Watch S that was released in November 2020. realme is a popular smartphone manufacturer and is a subsidiary of BBK Electronics. BBK also owns the Oppo, OnePlus and Vivo brands.
The Watch S Pro is a dual processor watch. It contains a STMicroelectronics STM32L4R9ZI processor and a Ambiq AMA3B processor (Apollo3 Blue ) . Overall watch responsiveness is quite good and the user interface does not lag.
This watch is using the proprietary operating system for realme smartwatches. While there are some available apps, the number is minimal and you do not have access to a 3rd party app store such as the Google Play Store. This is a significant disadvantage and is common drawback for any smartwatch using a proprietary operating system.
Design
The Watch S Pro has a circular watch face design with a stainless steel case. The watch is only available in black and while it won’t win any design competitions, it has an attractive overall look and feel.
This smartwatch is medium sized at 46.0 x 46.0 x 11.1 mm and weighs 63.5. Build quality feels solid and the watch is on the hefty side. The 11.1 mm thickness is average but the weight of the watch could be uncomfortable for some to wear while sleeping.
The Watch S Pro comes with a 22mm silicone interchangeable strap. The silicone strap is actually quite thick and may not be the most comfortable for some. That being said, this thick strap does appear to be quite durable. Additional straps can be purchased in silicon (blue / green / orange), leather (blue / green / brown) or stainless steel (black).
You can interact with the watch using the touchscreen and 2 physical buttons. The touchscreen works very well with no lag. Fonts, menus and icons can easily be read and navigation is not too complex.
The Watch S Pro has a 5 ATM water resistance rating which allows for swimming and showers. Salt water or chlorine could be problematic so make sure to rinse, wipe and dry the watch after swimming.
Screen
The screen of the Watch S Pro is one of the highlights of this smartwatch. The 1.39″ AMOLED Touchscreen, with 454 x 454 pixels and 326 ppi pixel density looks quite good. Indoors the display is excellent while outdoors it is acceptable but not great.
The Watch S Pro uses Corning Gorilla Glass to protect the screen. Since it is not a rugged watch, we expect protection to be limited. That being said build quality appears to be good and the watch should be quite durable.
The watch has an always on screen option but this has a significant impact on battery life. The watch allows for custom watchfaces which is a nice feature. The initial batch of watchfaces were not the most attractive but we expect better options to be available over time.
Battery
The Watch S Pro comes with a 420 mAh battery. realme claims that typical usage battery life is 14 days. Real world battery life is approximately 9-10 days, which is pretty good.
Connectivity Features
From a connectivity perspective, the Watch S Pro has limited functionality when compared to full featured smartwatches. The watch can only receive notifications and there is no ability to respond to notifications from the watch.
The Watch S Pro also lacks many connectivity features:
- Does not have a speaker or microphone hence cannot answer or place calls via Bluetooth
- Does not have a camera
- Does not have cellular connectivity
- Does not have Near Field Communication (NFC) for payments
- Does not have internal memory for music storage
On the positive side, it does come with built-in GPS. Unfortunately, GPS connectivity is not great. Locking on to GPS is not consistent and not the fastest. Also GPS accuracy is not the best. This is disappointing since GPS is one of the additional features of the Pro model.
Health and Fitness Features
The Watch S Pro comes with 6 sensors: Accelerometer, Ambient light, Compass, Gyroscope, Heart Rate Monitor (HRM), Pulse Oximeter (SpO2). These cover quite a bit of fitness functions and even some health areas. These sensors allow you to track the following 8 metrics: Blood Oxygen Level, Calories, Distance, Fitness Level, Heart Rate, Sleep, Steps, Swimming. Unfortunately heart rate tracking, step counting and sleep tracking are not 100% accurate but could be acceptable for the casual user.
Also included are 15 different sports modes. When compared to more fitness or health focused watches, the Watch Pro S is quite limited. If fitness and health monitoring are key features you are interested in, this watch is not ideal.
realme Link App
The realme Watch S Pro uses the realme Link app, which is actually pretty good. The app is not cluttered, easy to navigate and works quite well. The inaccurate sensor data from the watch, detract from the good app experience. You can see how the realme Link app ranks on our Smartwatch Apps Page.

Known Issues
As this watch has just recently been released, there are no common known issues.
Verdict
While better than the realme Watch S, it still lacks many connectivity features. GPS connectivity is poor and accuracy is not the best. While build quality, battery life and app are decent, the price is too high for features provided.
